Anita. Another Menopause Champion
When do our periods stop?
My periods stopped abruptly when I was 44. Up to that point, I hadn’t really noticed symptoms of perimenopause. It came as quite a surprise!
It was another 12 months before I started to have hot flushes, brain fog, and don’t get me started on my poor memory! This led me to explore HRT, symptom management, and just any information or education that would help me.
Celebrate our fabulousness!
I started HRT in January 2021 and have not looked back since, my hot flushes are gone although the brain fog still likes to make an appearance occasionally. My husband and I have always had a very open relationship with our two boys, and this was no exception, so I explained that just as my amazing body had grown and given birth to them, it is now going through the next stage. I don’t want them growing up and seeing menopause as negative, we need to celebrate our fabulousness! It is vastly important that men too have some foundation education in menopause.
The more I learn, the better I feel.
The more I learned about menopause, the more I was surprised and saddened that there is such a lack of knowledge both in organizations and as individuals. Menopause affects everyone, whether it’s you, someone you love, or a colleague – so I decided I wanted to help share that knowledge and help women feel more in control and empowered to do what is right for them. That’s when I joined Menopause Expert Group as a Menopause Champion. I felt it perfectly complemented the development I offer as a learning consultant.
