Burning Food – Yes, this is a fairly typical symptom of perimenopause and menopause.
How many pans have you had to throw out? So many of us through distraction and sheer brain fog is guilty of burning food. Leaving dinner in the Aga, sometimes overnight only to remember it in the morning when it has turned to dust!
Boiling rice and then walking away to do something else and you have completely forgotten 3 hours later, or when you can smell burning that you had something on the cooker top.
You are not alone, we all do it sooner or later. The good news is that pans can be replaced but cannot! There are ways to combat forgetfulness for example remembering to set alarms on your phone or on the cooker, however, you will need to set an alarm to tell you to set the alarm in the first place, so write stuff down! Use post-it notes, you will find them often scattered all over a perimenopausal woman’s home and office! They are your best friend.
Tell us about your experiences of burning food in the comments below. You are certainly not alone.
We have always been so great at multitasking but whilst our hormones settle down, we may just need to pace ourselves before we burn the house down!
