Dee’s Weight Loss Part 2
Read on to find out more about Dee’s Weight Loss in this Part 2!
Hello, and thank you for joining me, here is my progress report. Are you trying to lose weight too? I am following on from my Blog written on June 6th. I am looking to prove that weight loss is possible during menopause, if only we stay focused and take care of our diet and lifestyle.
The last couple of weeks have been a bit tough, but I have managed to lose just over 1KG, (I am aiming to lose 10 of those!). I hoped it would be more, however, last week I had my period (and we all know we weigh heavier right?). The really great thing for me was that it was the lightest period I have ever had in my life, could this be the last one? I wonder… I have been wondering that for nearly 10 years now! Fingers crossed!
Dee’s Weight Loss Tip: Record everything you eat…
I could not have lost weight though without using the app (MyFitnessPal) I have been religiously recording everything I eat and do every day. If I forget, I have my 19-year-old son to answer to! He is very helpful (and on his own fitness regime) and has on the odd occasion stopped me from routing through the cupboards looking for something sweet. The problem is, I never find anything these days. My treats (as they should be) are nuts and seeds, with the odd square of dark chocolate. I do still indulge in my milky decaf coffee, but limit it to just one or two cups per day, because these can be calorific.
I have been very sedentary though as a lot of my work is based on my computer, and so this week, I am going to walk around the garden (it’s very large around 2.5 acres) just to stretch my legs more frequently. It is only good for the body, it is good for the soul. I will go up the hill to see my hens, perhaps check for eggs, as they started laying yesterday which was exciting. Then I get to eat the eggs for breakfast the following day, all very healthy and home-grown.
Dee’s second tip for weight loss:
Portion control
Smaller portion sizes are working, but I do have to remember to bring the smaller plate out, as I tend to serve on larger ones for the rest of the household. Someone once suggested I try the mug diet to stay trim. It is quite a good idea, but it really depends on what type of foods you like to eat. Basically, you can only eat what you can get into a mug. That’s it, nothing else in anyone sitting. I think if you are looking for drastic weight loss up front this might work, but I am looking for a slow and steady loss, as I am much more likely to keep it off for good. It is a tough thing to do when you love eating food and really enjoy cooking it too!
I do have some really pretty summer dresses that I bought last year, I can not wait to get back into them! I will keep you all posted. Have an amazing week, and remember you are amazing, and you can do anything if you are in the right mindset. Join me?
Below are a handful of my home-grown strawberries, yum. Duly logged!
