Pregnant at 50!
Read more about being pregnant at 50 in this blog.
Many women think having kids should be done early in life. After all, getting pregnant through natural means becomes much more challenging as a woman ages.
It’s a common belief that you can’t simply rely on natural processes if you want to extend your biological clock.
One of your options is to take fertility drugs to make sure you ovulate regularly. Another would be in vitro fertilization (IVF), where your doctor either injects sperm cells to fertilize your egg or injects fertilized donor eggs into your uterus.
Thanks to these wonders of modern medicine, many celebrity moms get to sport a baby bump and give birth to healthy babies even when they’re already nearing their menopause.
Here are some of them:
Janet Jackson (Pregnant At 50 years old)
Janet Jackson has been in the music industry for decades, but nothing stopped her from performances and world tours except her beautiful baby girl, Eissa Al Mana. She gave birth in 2017.
Brigitte Nielsen (Pregnant At 54 years old)
It was a decade-long journey of fertility treatments for Brigitte Nielsen, but it was all worth it for the Red Sonja star when she gave birth to her fifth child, Frida.
She was told that at her age, she only had a 2.5% chance of success. What a miracle, indeed! If that nurturing gene is still hankering for a baby, why should age prevent us, if science can help? we would love to hear your views on this through our social channels.
Sophie B. Hawkins (Pregnant At 50 years old)
The 1990s chart-topper may have been laying low, but her new career as a mom is thriving.
Sophie froze 15 embryos when she was 31 just in case she wanted to have kids in the future. Her forward-thinking resulted in the birth of Esther, her daughter. However, we have recently heard reports from women suggesting that donating or freezing eggs can also bring along perimenopause. The research on this continues.
Helen Morris (Pregnant At 52 years old)
A former book editor and TV producer, Helen Morris defied the odds of human biology when she conceived her daughter Franchesca in 1999.
But what’s most shocking is how the wife of legendary director Martin Scorsese got pregnant naturally in her fifties! Not hard to believe, considering they didn’t enjoy the same advancements in infertility treatments that we have today.
Rachel Harris (Pregnant At 50 years old)
Rachel’s character in Lucifer gave birth to an angel, so it feels like serendipity that she brought her own angel, Otto, into this world.
But whether or not they used science to conceive her biological child, she didn’t say. I think some celebrities like to keep these things away from the public eye, and why not?
Mangayamma Yaramati (Pregnant At 74 years old)
Although Mangayamma Yaramati never had a stint in Bollywood, this first-time mother at 74 reached celebrity status when she gave birth to twins via C-section. Now this story really will shock you!
Because of her age, she spent some time in intensive care to keep her condition stable. We haven’t seen any updates since the birth, but we hope she’s enjoying spending time with her twin girls!
Like these celebrity moms, you can still have a healthy baby even in your fifties with science on your side. But if getting pregnant is off the table, you can always do what Diane Keaton did and adopt, we know all too well there are plenty of children who need the love of a mother. At any age!
